QUINCE

      Quince is a small or shrub of the Rosaceae family grown for its edible fruit. Quince is the only member of the genus Cydonia and is native to Iran, Turkey and possibly Greece and the Crimean Peninsula. The fruit is fragrant and astringent when eaten raw, but has an excellent taste and is often

used to flavor boiled or cooked apples. When cooked, the flesh turns pink, giving it a nice color for jellies.

 

Description :
     Quince plants are small whole leaf trees (small leaves growing on either side of the stem) that branch into short stems. It has large, single flowers, white or pink flowers resembling pears and apples, but with leaves and polynucleated ovaries. The fruits are golden-domed, round, flat or slightly pear-shaped.
