GARLIC

Garlic (Allium sativum), a perennial amaryllis (Amaryllidaceae) family plant used for its flavorful bulbs. The plant is native to Central Asia, but it grows wild throughout Italy and southern France and is a staple in many national dishes. The bulbs have a strong onion-like scent and a harsh flavour, therefore they are rarely eaten fresh.

Description :

Garlic plants reach a height of 60 cm (2 ft). The long leaves often emerge from a short hard stem above the bulb or a softer pseudostem made up of overlapping leaf sheaths, depending on the cultivar. The bulb is coated in membrane skin and contains up to 20 cloves, which are edible bulblets. The bracts break apart as the green-white or pinkish flowers bloom, enclosing the spherical flower cluster in a pair of papery tapering bracts. Flower stems may sprout sterile blooms and small bulbils (secondary bulbs that grow in place of flowers). Garlic is typically produced as an annual crop, with cloves or top bulbils being the most common methods of propagation, however seeds can also be employed.

This entails a lower chance of mental illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
